he startup scene is really hotting up in Lisbon, and with 270 days of annual sunshine, it's no wonder!
Boosted by the annual Web Summit tech conference which Lisbon hosted in 2016, 2017 and is set to host again this November, the Portuguese capital is gaining a reputation as a fantastic place to start a business.
Portugal’s scaleup ecosystem is growing twice as fast as the European average, and much of this success can be attributed to its capital city. With 42 percent of the total Portuguese scaleups located in Lisbon (17 companies), it’s clear that startups in the city are reaching new heights.
To get you in the know with the startups shaking things up in Lisbon right now, we’ve put together a varied list of them – complete with their elevator pitches. All of the startups are featured in our Startup Guide Lisbon book, should you want to read more about them.
1- EatTasty
EatTasty aims to deliver authentic home-cooked food, wherever you are and whatever your cooking ability. Cooks prepare the meals; customers just need to tap the app.
2- Landing.jobs
Landing.jobs is a tech jobs marketplace that aims to match tech talent with top employers.
3- CoolFarm
CoolFarm is a self-regulating system to grow plants sustainably in indoor farms and greenhouses. Sensors, machine learning and artificial intelligence technology help crops grow efficiently, and the data is managed in the cloud.
5- Codacy
Codacy provides automated code review software that helps other companies optimize their software. It acts like an extra developer on your team: checking code, enforcing good practice and analyzing security concerns.
6- Attentive
Attentive is a business intelligence tool that a company can add to its customer database. It delivers relevant, up-to-date information about sales leads, competitors, partners and investors that sales teams can act on.
7- Aptoide
Aptoide is a third-party Android app store, allowing customers to upload apps, as well as create their own stores to share them.
8- Science4you
Science4you aims to develop society’s educational standards by producing scientific toys and games that enable children to learn while playing.
9- Talkdesk
Talkdesk is a cloud-based call centre software that helps companies connect with customers in real time to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
10- Tradiio
Tradiio aims to generate recurring funding for musicians. It allows music creators to set up a subscription page where their fans can support them on a monthly basis in exchange for access to exclusives, unique rewards and experiences.
