n recent years there has been a growth in the number of coworking spaces in Copenhagen, reflecting its blossoming startup scene.

Most places offer a range of memberships from flexible ones where you use an informal members’ area to ones for fixed spaces (either part-time or full-time). There are also ones that offer office spaces for small teams.

Which one you choose depends on where in the city you would like to be situated and also the type of work you are in so you can share a space with like-minded people. We’ve rounded up the best coworking spots from our Startup Guide Copenhagen book, many which offer a wide range of memberships.

1 - Greencubator

📍Nørrebrogade 20, 1. sal., 2200 Copenhagen N

Mads Lønnberg and Frederik Trier launched Greencubator in October 2015. They have since created a coworking space whose core value is community and driving green enterprise. Members are selected on the basis of their desire not simply to make a profit, but to bring about positive change.

2 - KPH Projects

📍Enghavevej 80, 2450 Copenhagen

Established in 2009 with support from Copenhagen City Council, KPH Projects brings together young entrepreneurs and projects in a multidisciplinary community where the common denominator is creating social, green and cultural value for Copenhagen and wider society.

3 - The Camp

📍Tryg Forsikring A/S, Klausdalsbrovej 601, 2750 Ballerup

The Camp is collaboration between Rainmaking, a leading Danish incubator, and Tryg, a Scandinavian insurance giant. Launched in autumn 2016, the Camp is located at Tryg’s headquarters in Ballerup, west of Copenhagen. Its leafy location makes it even more attractive.

4 - Founders House

📍Njalsgade 19D, 1. fl., 2300 Copenhagen St

Founders House exudes old-world charm – look out for the old railroad tracks leading to the harbor – and has a quirky, homespun vibe (think colorful bric-a-brac, mismatched furniture and motivational slogans). Facilities include a bike cleaning service and a kitchen with a popular meal plan.

5 - Rocket Labs

📍Hejrevej 30, 2400 Copenhagen NV

Rocket Labs launched in the summer of 2013 when three tech companies, including Linkfire, were looking for a new office and spotted the third floor of a former camera factory in Copenhagen’s industrial Nordvest neighbourhood. In late 2014, it expanded into the building next door. It’s now home to more than a hundred entrepreneurs.

6 - Republikken

📍Vesterbrogade 26, 1620 Copenhagen V

Republikken has a range of spaces, including more than 20 private offices for small companies, two wings for freelance workers, a small ‘Fab Lab’ and a large café. The homespun vibe is reinforced by the shabby chic design – think retro wallpaper and colorfully painted 1970s school chairs.

7 - SKRÅ

📍Baggesensgade 4C st., 2200 Copenhagen N

Skrå (“slanted”) is the perfect name for this enchanting space in Nørrebro. It is a cozy and sociable space – members typically eat lunch together – and its location is a significant draw. It also backs onto a quiet, graffiti-painted courtyard – a stone’s throw from the buzzy cafés and bars of Blågårdsgade.

8 - Nomad Workspace

📍Blegdamsvej 6, 2200 Copenhagen K

Nomad Workspace is one of the newer kids on the block when it comes to Copenhagen coworking scene. A “contemporary workspace for creative nomads,” it’s located in an old courthouse that its founders have stylishly renovated.

9 - DARE2mansion

📍Vermundsgade 13–15, 2100 Copenhagen Ø

A blackboard on the wall at DARE2mansion’s café reads: “If you are here, you are awesome.” The slogan typifies the vibe at this coworking space in northeastern Copenhagen, from the café’s comfy sofas, to the funky décor throughout (pink unicorns, mirror balls and a lampshade the size of Jupiter).

10 - SOHO

📍Flæsketorvet 68, 1711 Copenhagen V

The founders of this stylish spot in the meatpacking district say they sought to create a coworking space that members wouldn’t want to leave. Offsetting SOHO’s chic industrial look – white walls, exposed piping – is an eye-catching collection of art and photography, as well as rustic touches like timber-clad walls. Look out, too, for the playful wall of used phone covers.

11 - Rainmaking Loft

📍Danneskiold-Samsøes Allé 41, 1434 Copenhagen K

Operated by Rainmaking Ventures, which set out over a decade ago to create and support a ‘startup factory,’ this space won the award for ‘Best Office Space’ at the 2016 Nordic Startup Awards. It’s not hard to see why. Besides hardwood floors and glass-walled offices, the Rainmaking Loft boasts a sociable cafe, a top-floor canteen and seven elegant meeting rooms.

12 - Symbion

📍Fruebjergvej 3, 2100 Copenhagen

Symbion seeks to house entrepreneurs running small but scalable companies in four fields: tech/IT, healthcare, knowledge-based counselling and cleantech. As well as having access to various meeting rooms and a conference center, residents can seek initial pro bono advice from in-house experts such as lawyers and accountants.

13 - Spilhuset

📍Pilestræde 43, 1112 Copenhagen K

Spilhuset is unquestionably the city’s most informal coworking space, thanks to its remarkable legacy. Its name means ‘the games house’ – the official moniker given to a cluster of games companies which shared offices in a central Copenhagen building over a decade ago.

Just so you’re aware of how we selected these spaces in Copenhagen, we sorted through hundreds of nominations from the community before a local advisory board helped us curate the final list.
